Imagine our collective surprise when we learned that Kate Arismendez, owner of Desert Oasis Farm and Dog Boarding in Buckeye, AZ, is sending out text messages to people she doesn’t know rather randomly soliciting dog boarding/sitting business.
Yesterday (Wednesday, June 7, 2017) we were contacted informing us of messages that were received from someone identifying herself as “Kate with dog boarding” soliciting business for dog boarding/sitting. What Meaghan and Luke have been through and the outrageous nature of behavior and words from Arismendez this is a huge slap in the face to both Meaghan and Luke, as well as any person who has been following this case since we went public in February, 2017.
As for Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, we have yet to hear what is going on with the case. Recently, MCSO Internal Affairs did interview Meaghan and Luke, as well as their friend Leslie, concerning the derogatory comments that we made by an admin at MCSO about Meaghan, her attorney John Schill of Schill Law Group, and Leslie. The admin is the admin of Lt Fortner at MCSO. From the initial call for service MCSO did not handle this investigation properly. It should have been passed over by the admin and/or Lt Fortner to Animal Crimes. Instead, it took a month of vocal advocacy to get anyone’s attention. There are inherent issues for an investigation when that occurs, and they put the likelihood of charges against suspects at risk of not occurring.
Meaghan has reached out to MCSO twice about the investigation status. Nothing has been heard back. The concern has been MCSO won’t recommend charges to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, or that the Attorney’s Office would decline charges. Seeing the text messages from Kate Arismendez is underscoring that concern. She seems to be of the mindset she’s done no wrong.
Quite frankly, we wouldn’t trust her or her husband, Joe, to watch dust bunnies. No person should ever go through what Meaghan and Luke went through. If MCSO comes back and tells us nothing is being done, we will possibly post EVERYTHING online for the public to read exactly how horrible it’s all been. We’ll let the public read it with their own eyes.
